RECOGNITIONS OF QUALIFICATIONS

According to the Rules approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, higher education degree diplomas are granted by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to clauses of “Education Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, “Regulations about the Ministry of Education”, Lisbon Recognition Convention, about recognition of qualifications concerning higher education in the European region”, “Convention, abolishing the requirement of legalisation for foreign public documents” signed in the Hague, “Rules of recognition of specialties of foreign states in the sphere of the higher education and determination of their equivalence (nostrification)” approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, № 64, dated from May 13, 2003 – the main activity sphere of branch, working on recognition of educational documents includes below stated items:

• Implements the recognition of specialties of foreign states in the sphere of the higher education and determination of their equivalence (nostrification);

• Controls requirements of existing legislation relating to this sphere;

• Cooperates with state structures, private organizations and international bodies with the aim of implementation of above stated;

• Learns work experience of foreign states in this sphere and determines progressive features, prepares reports to the management board with proposals concerning law-normative and regulating documents to be applied in country.

Also to note, equivalency for each country is usually determined by particular country’s educational authority.

Required Documents for obtaining a Visa or Residence in Azerbaijan:

• passport picture

• opening a bank account

• Have a financial commitment of at least $ 2000

• Receive University Registration Letter

• Having a Certificate of Proficiency with an official translation into English

Language preparation courses:

• International students must study for a year at the University of Architecture and Construction of Azerbaijan. The tuition fee will be $ 1200 annually.

University Educational Calendar:

The academic year at Khazar University is planned every year from September 1 to August 31 of the following year. Each academic year has two terms: Fall and Spring semesters, including winter and summer holidays.

Duration of study in both semesters is 20 weeks. There are also two-week courses for oral and written exams.

Winter holidays typically last less than 2 weeks and last at least one month during the summer. The process is done 6 days a week, usually from 9am to 6pm.

Required PhD Degree:

Cost of Admission and Services:

• The cost of admission and student services will be $ 2000.

Deadline for Receipt and Registration:

• For the first semester of the academic year the deadline for submitting applications is the end of August and for the second semester the end of the academic year.
